The architect, Paul Kember and the KplusK Associates studio, have reached the final in the Finished Project category.
The ventilated façade of the Vidal Sassoon Academy banked on the Butech building systems and, it has incorporated the KRION mineral compact with the Snow White tone.
The architect, Paul Kember, from Hong Kong has reached the final at the 11th Porcelanosa Architecture and Design Awards. The project, from the KplusK Associatesstudio, has designed the Vidal Sassoon Academy facade in Shanghai. With the innovation and creativity as the corporate identity, this space needed a modern, resistant and easy to clean material. Requirements for which KRION was chosen as an outdoor wall tile.
The PORCELANOSA Grupo has participated in this project with the KRION Solid Surface, the cutting-edge mineral compactthat has turned the ventilated facadearound. For its installation, the Kember and KplusK Associates staff incorporated the ButechK-Fix system with polished panels in the building. In addition, this firm was also involved with the installers training and the technical supervision of the facade.
The KRIONTMbig size has materialised a futuristic design throughout 290m2 of the surface. The 1100 Snow White by KRION tone expands its capacity with white as the main attraction.
The cutting-edge Solid Surface has also been used for the academy logo in milling under relief and in the lower part of the building, with the initials VS by KRION being machined. With thermocurvable properties, alack of pores and the easy cleaning, this material is made up of two thirds of natural minerals and a low percentage of resins.
After one year and 60 applications for the construction of this space, the academy of hairdressing and styling, the Vidal Sassoon Academy decided to settle in Shanghai due to the multicultural and architectural modernitythat moves the city. A meeting point with art as a goal.
