Sixthriver completed a renovation of the Castillian, another luxury student housing building completed for the University of Texas in Austin, Texas.
Built in 1969, the Castilian underwent a $20 million renovation that was completed in 2015. Upgrades include a fitness facility, gaming room, laundry facility, dining hall, theatre, deluxe furnishings and materials in the residential units.
The Castilian is an off campus student residence hall consisting of 22 floors. The property is located at 24th and San Antonio. Level 1 is the leasing office and retail space, while levels 2-10 comprise the parking garage. The 11th floor is the full service kitchen and dining hall, amenities floor with study lounges, a computer lab, laundry facilities, and a gym facility.
The remaining levels are a mix of private rooms and shared student suites. The various renovation projects in this building have included installation of a new chiller and cooling tower, complete renovation of the existing kitchen and dining hall, replacement of existing air handling units on the 11th and 1st floors, and repairs to heavily corroded utility piping. With a fully occupied and fully operational building, proper scheduling was essential for a successful project.
