鳞次栉比的老式建筑、旧式店面插门板的凹槽，以及走上去嘎吱作响的楼板，这似乎是人们对南长古街上店面的一贯印象。然而，若是在这样一条宛如水墨江南画卷的古街，设计一间“不走寻常路”的异国餐厅，又是一种怎样的体验呢？

An array of old-fashioned buildings, grooves with door panels in old storefronts, and squeaking floor slabs seem to be the consistent impression of the storefronts on Nanchang Ancient Street. However, what is the experience of designing an exotic restaurant that "does not take the usual road" in such an ancient street like a scroll of Jiangnan?

设计者决定，将这奇妙的想法，实现于 MaThai 泰国餐厅的设计中。

The designer decided to implement this wonderful idea in the design of MaThai Thai restaurant.

MaThai 餐厅位于极具江南风情的南长古街，如何区别于传统泰式餐厅的隆重感，将泰式元素与本土文化结合而不显突兀呢？呈现这一点的第一步，便是 MaThai 的入口设计：设计者没有使用过多的颜色和装饰，以白墙黑瓦的江南小院与经典泰式符号·大象元素和茅草屋顶相结合，提取泰式记忆元素，赋予餐厅不同的体验感。

MaThai restaurant is located in Nanchang Ancient Street, which is very Jiangnan style. How can it be distinguished from the grand feeling of traditional Thai restaurants, combining Thai elements with the local culture without being obvious? The first step to present this is the entrance design of MaThai: the designer did not use too much color and decoration, and the white courtyard with black tiles and Jiangnan small courtyard combined with the classic Thai symbols-elephant elements and thatched roof, extract Thai memory elements to give the restaurant a different experience.

石窟是泰国传统文化中常见的佛教建筑元素，设计者将其融于 MaThai 的设计中，柔和的色调使人愉悦，通透明亮的采光亦令人舒适。错落有致的餐桌，在美观的同时，亦符合人机工程学的要求，在服务上有利于服务人员的往来，即便是在用餐高峰期，也不会使整个空间变得拥挤而影响客人的食欲与心情。

The grotto is a common Buddhist architectural element in Thai traditional culture. The designer blended it into MaThai’s design. The soft tones are pleasant, and the transparent and bright lighting is also comfortable. The scattered dining tables are beautiful and at the same time meet the requirements of ergonomics. The service is conducive to the exchange of service personnel. Even during the peak meal period, it will not make the entire space crowded and affect the guest’s appetite and mood.

随处可见的椰林与芭蕉元素，也是设计者的一点小“心机”：食客来店时，仿佛置身于惬意的海边度假村，细细的白沙踩在脚下，沙滩上布满了贝壳，再听窗外，隐约还有海浪的声音。

The coconut tree and plantain elements that are everywhere are also a little “scheme” of the designer: when the diners come to the store, they seem to be in a comfortable seaside resort. The thin white sand is stepped on the foot, the beach is covered with shells, and then listen to the window, there is a faint sound of waves.

在MaThai 餐厅，动物是随处可见的元素之一，无论是墙画中在雨林里自由自在的猴群与火烈鸟，亦或是纯色的猴子摆件。无论是材质还是造型，都极具特色与质感，可以说是相当受到年轻客人的喜爱。而如此设计的原因，是设计者希望客人来到MaThai用餐时能有身临其境的感觉。同时，也是对日益严峻的自然问题的思考：人类从洪荒时代走到了文明的世纪，智慧创造了经济的奇迹，无知与贪婪却留下了可怕的后果——环境污染、生态恶化、物种减少，而人类终于逐渐从噩梦中觉醒：人与自然和谐共处，才是让人类长久生存的出路。

In MaThai restaurant, animals are one of the elements that can be seen everywhere-whether it is the free monkey group and flamingo in the rain forest in the wall paintings, or the solid color monkey ornaments, whether it is material or shape, they are very distinctive and The texture can be said to be quite popular with young guests.

The reason for this design is that the designer hopes that guests will feel immersive when they come to MaThai for dining, and at the same time, it is also a reflection on the increasingly serious natural problems: human beings have entered the century of civilization from the era of floods, and wisdom has created The economic miracle, ignorance and greed have left terrible consequences-environmental pollution, ecological deterioration, and reduced species, and humans have finally gradually awakened from the nightmare: the harmonious coexistence of man and nature is the way out for human survival.

除了满足客人的用餐功能，有一间具有私密性、适合洽谈的包间也是十分必要的。在二楼的包间，设计者以墙壁上悬挂的木饰，让用餐氛围变得宁静，利用白色的砖墙与青葱的雨林，将熙熙攘攘隔绝于外，平静沉浸于祥和空间中。同时，也保证了客人想要的私密性。

In addition to satisfying guests’ dining functions, it is also necessary to have a private room suitable for negotiation. In the private room on the second floor, the designer used wooden decoration hanging on the wall to make the dining atmosphere quiet. Using white brick walls and lush rainforest, the bustle was isolated from the outside, calmly immersed in the peaceful space, and at the same time, it also guaranteed The privacy that guests want.

如此，一间远观是江南小院、实则内藏玄机的泰国餐厅就这样在流水潺潺的古运河畔生长起来，仿佛一株茁壮成长的金链花，静静等待它盛开的时节。

In this way, a Thai restaurant with a distant view of the Jiangnan small courtyard and the hidden mystery is actually grown up on the banks of the ancient canal, which is like a thriving Laburnum anagyroides Medic, waiting quietly for its blooming season.
