Situated near the borders of the town named Fossò, near Venice, the building was subject to an important renovation work, though keeping the spatial organization of the volumes and the relationship with the outside unchanged. The two different destinations of the original building are shown through the use of two different materials: plaster and bricks. The central volume, cleaned up from all the useless elements formerly added, is characterized by a symmetrical southern façade and a vertical screened with brises-soleil “cut” on the northern front, representing a break with the tradition, instead respected for all the rest. The “barchessa” (rural building typical of venetian countryside villas), once used to shelter animals and store the harvest, keeps its original wide windows while the horizontal lines of the old timber cladding is suggested by the use of finished bricks, laid down without the vertical mortar lines and using two different colours, both similar to the ground color. The shutters are instead clear grey, recalling the color of an old board found during one of the first inspections. During the night, the light filters through the only “cut” on the northern façade, visible from the outside.
