MVLA began work at Johns Hopkins University in 1995 with a Campus Master Plan for the Homewood Campus with Ayers Saint Gross. The primary recommendation of the Plan was to upgrade the campus grounds to a level that reflected the stature of the University. MVLA led an interdisciplinary team for the design and construction that transformed the majority of the campus core in 8 months. The work focused on improving all aspects of pedestrian circulation including the removal of a number of streets and the creation of new courts, quads and gardens. The work also included systemic upgrades of utilities, lighting, furniture, pavings, and plantings. Multiple projects have followed including Decker Quad, the Donor Wall, and the Brody Learning Center.
