This comprehensive renovation focused on restoring the function, look and feel of the Leland Federal building. Gensler’s design team used energy modeling to show the GSA how various renovation options could cumulatively improve the building’s energy performance. The end result is energy consumption 31 percent below the standard bar. The new façade cuts heat and delivers daylight to the interior. Multilayered landscaping harmonizes the building with surroundings and leads to a curved entry pavilion, which, together with the garage walkway, is given a roof of greenery. The renovations have made for a rejuvenated government workplace and civic monument.
