由日本财团发起的“THE TOKYO TOILET”（东京公厕计划）旨在建设人人可用的公共厕所，并将于东京涩谷的17个地点建造新的洗手间设施，作为迈向多元且包容的社会的举措之一。这些公厕将由16位顶尖的创意人担纲设计，并将凭借最先进的设计方法，满足不同性别和年龄层以及行动不便的用户的需要。每间公厕将由建筑商业公司DAIWA HOUSE INDUSTRY和知名洁具品牌TOTO合作完成建造。

This project by The Nippon Foundation aims for the realization of a society where all kinds of diversity are accepted, by building public toilets. With the full cooperation of Shibuya city, 17 toilets that are accessible for anyone regardless of gender, age, or disability will be created. Through the power of design and the creativity of 16 creators who support the objectives of this project, The Nippon Foundation is demonstrating what this new society can achieve. The toilets will be constructed by DAIWA HOUSE INDUSTRY CO., LTD., and TOTO LTD. will advise on toilet equipment and layout.

这间由伊东丰雄事务所设计的公厕模拟了从附近森林中生长出来的蘑菇。虽然该项目位于山手线经过的城市主干道上，但它们坐落在通往神社的台阶下方，与背景处的森林环境建立了一种和谐的观感。

The toilets resemble three mushrooms that sprouted from the forest around Yoyogi-Hachiman shrine. Despite being built along the main thoroughfare of Yamate-Dori, they sit at the footsteps that lead to the shrine. The impression of mushrooms creates a sense of harmony with the forest in the background.

项目中包含了3间独立的厕所，交通空间位于中央，便于人们从多方进入。连通的路径能够创造良好的视觉连接，有助于保障使用者的安全，避免犯罪行为的发生。

Having three separate toilets with circulation space in between makes it easy to navigate. Connecting paths with no dead-ends also allow good visual connection, creating a safe environment and preventing crime.

By securing ample space and by equipping elderly and parental functions that are usually only available in accessible toilets within each toilet ensure that the facility is truly public and accessible by everyone.

日本财团长期致力于在多种领域开展公益项目，尤其关注残疾人、受自然灾害影响的地区和儿童群体。

公共厕所作为为公众服务的空间，实际上并不能像理想中那样满足每个人的需要。例如，通常公园中的厕所设计都难以实现通用性。不仅仅是残障人士，对于年长者、儿童和LGBTQ+群体来说，这些公厕的实用性都极为有限。

“东京公厕计划”要求设计师确保每个项目中至少有一间厕所是完全通用的，即能够让任何人都获得舒适的使用体验。此外，为了消除人们对公厕一贯持有的消极印象，“东京公厕计划”致力于借助创意的力量为公共厕所赋予新的面貌。该计划的初衷是让每个人都能以良好的方式使用公共厕所，因为它是属于所有人的空间。

The Nippon Foundation has been working across various areas such as people with disabilities, areas affected by natural disasters, and children to make the world a better place. With public toilets, we were skeptical if it is really a place where everyone can use comfortably, although the word “public” is in the word. For example, usually the public toilets in the park are not universally designed. Not only people with disabilities, but elderly and children and LGBTQ+ find it difficult to use.

In THE TOKYO TOILET, we requested all the creators to make sure that one of the toilet rooms must be universally designed so that everyone becomes comfortable to use. Also, the public toilets are usually considered to be dark, dirty, smelly, and scary. To dispel these images, we renovated the public toilets with the power of creativity. By doing so, we hope that everyone uses the public toilets in a good manner, as the public toilets belong to everyone.
