Kirsha was inspired to communicate the Starbucks story through an elevated, authentic, and relatable design. Throughout, Kirsha chose earthy materials that look luxe and premium, but feel cozy and approachable. The textures of terrazzo floors and natural wood (a local variety similar to chestnut) and stone with accents of bronze and brass evoke a localized palette. A dramatically lit, wide stairwell of variegated Italian gray marble with brass inlays ascends to the more substantial experience at the Reserve Bar, also crafted from gray marble and natural wood. There, guests can sit directly at the bar at custom-made concrete and wood stools for a one-on-one coffee experience with the barista. Beyond the bar, custom-designed café tables, soft seating, and a large community table flank an intimate outdoor area.
“We wanted to celebrate the connection between China and Seattle,” says Kirsha. “The new design shows where we are as a brand and where we are going with innovative experiences. Whether it’s their first experience or one-hundredth, I wanted it to feel like home for everyone.”
