Unispace has created the innovative design for the offices of medical equipment manufacturer, Verathon, located in Bothell, Washington.
Verathon’s new home is an innovation hub focused on their mission of improving patient lives, while improving the lives of their staff.
Verathon creates a variety of medical devices that support providers and better patients. They remained in the same building for over 15 years and functionality of space needed improvement – large conference rooms were underutilized and a very spacious cafeteria was only used during lunch hours, while work spaces were tightly packed. One goal was rectifying this and creating common spaces that were the right size as well as making them easier to locate to encourage collaboration and allow for future growth.
With an older building can come complications. There were non-code compliant infrastructure issues that required significant upgrades to the stairs, elevators and restrooms. We shifted the budget accordingly to move forward with the new design and Verathon’s vision.
Natural light was an important factor in helping with this vision as well as meeting the aesthetic needs of employees and employer, which centered around a blend of industrial and tech.
Verathon’s primary goal was creating a space that reminded its employees that what they do improves the lives of their clients. With their dedication and passion to this work, it was important they be recognized and rewarded for their diligent service.
The goal was not densification or efficiency, but rather focused on what each employee will garner from their work environment, as well as improving overall well being. The space is now warm and inviting with a wellness focus on current and future Verathon employees.
