45th Architect's Award for Architecture by the Institute of Architects of Brazil in 2007.
Honorable Mention in the Category Conservation and Valorization of Built Heritage, with the Alexandre Moura Project - 59.
We project through emptiness, into emptiness, with the intention of keeping its character unveiled, public, of right of all. The ruin remains as a film; the facade is the permeable membrane, which gives access to the corridor of spectacles, from the stranger that is the street to the transitory space of scenic movement. So it is an alternative theater, accessible and permissible as ruin, uncensored, without fences.
Everything converts to the central point - the spectacle. It is not defined the fourth theatrical barrier that separates the stage from the viewer, the reality of fiction, precisely because the idea is to transpass it continuously. The stage / audience is a corridor, marked by the unevenness, where public and artist form a set. The unpaved floors and access to the underground provide a permeable character to the spaces and new possibilities of scenic interventions.
The architectural rearrangement that defines the new forms of the building begins in the existing, limiting moment - both spatial and temporal - of the work, reduced to the few vestiges of itself.
