It’s best to dive headfirst into Modern Shows, the brainchild of Lucy Ryder Richardson and Petra Curtis. Whether youre after a fibreglass Eames chair, a teak sideboard or classic Italian lighting designs, these shows, hosted across the country, will have you covered. Dealers and designers come from far and wide to present their wares, so expect to find something you love.
We’ve happily lost hours delving through their marketplace celebrating new, repurposed and restored pieces. We visited Lucy at her home on the Dulwich Estate to chat all things mid-century modern, take a look here.
With over 30 years in the industry, Bill is the only person to turn to for bespoke leather products, interiors and furniture. Whether it be saddlery, case-making or bookbinding, his practice pushes the boundaries when it comes to leather. Having honed his craft from a young age – courtesy of his mother – Bill’s passion runs deep.
We love that he makes a point of bringing together a diverse range of craftspeople and artisans, creating products that will stand the test of time. Recent highlights include a lecture theatre for The Royal Academy of Arts, a department for Harrods and the permanent inclusion of his ‘Rocket Bag’ at London’s V&A and New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.
This London-based practice, founded by Sam Selencky and David Parsons, is known for its bold, innovative approach toward design. Their buildings maximise space and light while combining strong concepts carefully entwined with intricate detailing. We love their ability to create effortlessly flowing, harmonious spaces, just like their recent project Coach House II, an ingeniously-arranged house that maximises its tight urban plot in New Cross, London.
Combining Scandinavian design with modular forms, Koto is the architecture practice taking luxury off-grid. Founded by Zoe Little, Theodore Dales and Johnathon Little, and based in Devon and Belfast, the trio’s simple spaces are sustainably built and have us craving the outdoor lifestyle. Delivered complete to your site – who doesn’t love a fully functioning home delivered to your doorstep? – and crafted with respect for natural materials, these homes encourage a slower pace of life.
This Nottingham-based furniture dealer is a go-to for all your interior design and lighting needs. Founded in 1991 by Simon Siegel, it quickly grew from a small high street shop to one of the leading UK suppliers of contemporary pieces, sourcing from a worldwide portfolio that only continues to grow. Last year, we took a look around Simon’s home, a mecca of mid-century design in a house to match.
