为了纽约 x 设计事务所的开幕典礼Sebastian Errazuriz设计了一个巨大的陶罐状的金牛作为装置品。像众多的彩饰陶罐一样，空心的金牛也装满了惊喜——但不是糖果。这只巨大的金牛被悬挂在街道上方，里面塞满了真正的钞票。“我想创建可以成为庆祝活动的一部分的一个场所，南美洲大多数孩子的生日小饰品装满糖果带给我这个灵感” Errazuri说道，“在我看来，在建筑物之间悬挂一个巨大的彩饰陶罐将是惊人的，这邀请年轻设计师抓住一些灵感并尝试去实现它。”

Sebastian Errazuriz has formed a massive golden piñata shaped like a cow as an installation to inaugurate the opening of NYC x design. Like most piñatas, the hollow object is filled with a surprise — but not candy; instead of being packed with sweets, the massive beast suspended above the streets is filled up with real dollar bills. ‘I wanted to create a piece that could part of a celebration. Coming from south america most kids had birthday piñatas filled with candy.’ errazuriz describes ‘it occurred to me that it would be amazing to build a giant piñata that could be hung between buildings and invite young designers to grab some sticks and have a go at it during the party.’

The piñata is layered in symbolism and controversy. Titled ‘XX century capital’ the hanging cow is not only a representation of the gold calf worshiped in the bible, but also maintains a strong resemblance to the wall street bull. ‘The piece hints at the capital system as an idol that we have worshiped for decades and is unfortunately proving to be false. There’s an urgent need for corrections to the capital system that can offer a more fair redistribution of wealth. The cash cow needs to be smashed but we must be careful not to replace it with more of the same. ’the giant piñata is on view to the public and scheduled to be smashed tomorrow, tuesday march 20th in industry city, brooklyn, NY.
