“红亭子”是由4万个8cm×8cm闪光的红色方块与北宁公园既有的一个传统风格的红亭子的整合，上半部分是传统的亭子，通过伴随四根亭柱的红色方块的抽象演化，成为了地面上一堆闪光的碎片，就好像是历史的倒影，上面是传统的、历史的风貌，下面是奇幻的、当代的景象。

“Red Pavilion” is consisted by forty thousand 8cm×8cm shiny fragments, integrated with an existing traditional red pavilion in Beining Park. The top half of the pavilion still keeps the traditional style, which has become a pile of shining fragments on the ground through the abstract evolution of the red squares accompanied by four columns. Just like reflecting the history, with traditional and historical features above, and fantasy and contemporary scenes below.

不管是传统还是未来，都与当代产生了有趣的矛盾，这也是当代中国建筑师的困惑、挣扎与思考的直接反映。如何继承进而去发扬中国优秀的传统文化，是中国建筑师的职责和担当。和这个亭子一样，现实、历史与未来存在着延续、发展和演化的自然过程,同时又常常存在一种矛盾和巨变。这些闪光的碎片和代表中国传统文化的红亭子紧紧地结合在一起，完全融合成一个整体，就像中国文化深深的植根于我们的血液一样。

No matter it is tradition or future, both of them have some interesting contradictions with the contemporary era, which is also a direct reflection of Chinese contemporary architects’ confusion, struggle and thoughts. How to inherit and promote Chinese traditional culture is the responsibility of Chinese architects. Like this pavilion, there is a natural process of continuation, development and evolution in the present, history and future, and there always have contradiction and great change at the same time. These shining fragments and the red pavilion which representing Chinese traditional culture are closely integrated into a whole, just as Chinese culture is deeply rooted in our blood.

通过审视这个红亭子，我们不难去想象和思考这个问题:这些闪光的碎片折射出当代快节奏的、多变的、闪光的生活，在这种快节奏的生活体验下，我们又将如何去传承和发展历史传统文化？这是我们面临的课题，“红亭子”揭示的是我们的困惑和思考。从“红亭子”的整体性和矛盾性，间接表达出我们对如何去继承传统、又如何去面对未来的困惑和反思。

By inspecting this red pavilion, it is not hard to imagine and think about this question: these shining fragments reflect the contemporary fast-paced, variable and shining life, but how will we inherit and promote the historical and traditional culture in this fast-paced age? This is the subject we are facing with. And the “Red Pavilion” reveals our confusion and consideration. The integrity and contradiction of the “Red Pavilion” indirectly expresses our confusion and reflection on how to inherit the tradition and how to face the future.
