The partners of a well-known restaurant in Lima commissioned Vicca Verde to restore and refurbish a house in San Isidro, in order to revitalize its character and rejuvenated its image for conversion into a restaurant.
The house used to be part of the Casa Hacienda Moreyra and although it has gone under a number of previous transformations it still retains elements of the republican architecture. It is located in one of the most exclusive districts of Lima and one of the most important financial centres in the city – San Isidro.
The project was borne from the desire to change the residential character of the mansion to a more commercial one, and to update its image for a more contemporary one, which in turn has led to it being furnished with equipment to the highest international standards expected of a five star restaurant.
The refurbishment incorporates steel I-beams to create a clear contrast between new and old. In addition, an important detail in the interior spaces is the use of perforated metal sheets with laser-cut patterns to allow visual connections between the spaces.
The conversion has created different spaces for diners, one with the perforated metal sheets creating dappled light, another for fine dining in a more formal environment. Then there is a terrace with a more relaxed feel with a bar and a striking tensile roof structure.
In each space, including the toilets, one canfind dramatic contemporary artworks, incorporated harmoniously with the architecture. The photographs are by Andres Marroquín and the sculpture is by JoaquínLiébana Evans.
