The
Vestjysk Bank
branch in Hvide Sande, Denmark, chose natural slate as the material for renovating its façade. The façade design they selected is CUPACLAD® 201 VANGUARD, which stands out for its stylish, contemporary design that harmoniously combines with the building’s style.
Hvide Sande is located around the lock which separates the North Sea from the Ringkøbing fjord and has one of the most important harbours of Denmark. So, natural slate seemed the most suitable cladding material for resisting the oceanic climate of the area.
A resistant, long-lasting cladding material
Natural slate ensures an excellent performance in any weather conditions. Waterproof and extremely resistant, slate has a lot of technical and natural properties and a remarkable lifetime.
The architectural firm in charge of the project, HVAM Arkitekt & Ingeniørkontor A/S, explains why they chose natural slate:
“Slate plays well with the building’s unique design and it is also robust enough for the weather conditions close to the North Sea.”
A truly contemporary design with natural slate
Apart from resistance, selecting a contemporary cladding solution that enhanced the unique design of the building was also important. That is why they opted for our natural slate rainscreen cladding system CUPACLAD® 201 VANGUARD.
VANGUARD offers a very modern design thanks to the use of visible fixing. Slate units are fixed with clips that are slightly visible at the bottom, offering a clean, stylish appearance.
The 689m2 of the façade have been expertly cladded with natural slates by the roofing company Byens Blikkenslager Ringkøbing ApS.
The building’s unique design draws everyone’s attention. Natural slate together with the large asymmetric windows provides wonderful reflections to the building.
