Simianshan Town is a mixed community that integrates commerce, residences, parks, theaters, restaurants, farms, and B&B etc. And the demonstration area is currently being designed and constructed.
The project pays attention to the relationship between architecture and the environment, the strong feature of the sales center, the accessibility of the commercial street, and the storytelling along the traffic flow through a poetic understanding of the mountain and water cultural concept of Simianshan, which can have a dialogue with nature.
The land is irregular and has large height difference. Our overall plan conforms to the topography, concealing the building in the landscape, and weakening the sense of volume for most of the buildings. The sales center is located at the highest point of the site, protruding above the ground, and adopts a large-scale Cantilever structure, which is like auspicious clouds floating on the top of the mountain, overlooking the mountains and sea of clouds.
The traffic flow is designed as a curve corridor, which not only conforms to the undulating and irregular land use form, but also is full of fluidity. It resembles the flow of water, winding in the mountains, rich and gentle. When we enter in it, it's like walking between mountains and rivers. The flowing space also greatly enriches the experience and exploration characteristics of the space. We transform the landscape by the height difference of the site, blur the relationship between the interior and exterior of the building, so that the building is hidden in the mountains, and the original ecological mountain topography is preserved as much as possible. Only highlight the commercial traffic flow and the sales center with high commercial demand.
We have used local materials(Bamboo and red sandstone) in various important spatial nodes of the architectural design through different forms,so that each building unit has a very interesting and close relationship with the local cultural elements.
