The study of this zone in the dense city centre includes the complete analysis of the urban situation and the development of priorities and issues to define a revitalization strategy and tactics.
A classical overall strategy aims to reinforce the multifunctionality of the public spaces by encouraging their neutralization and includes a reflection on the density and types of dwellings. The study also explores the possibility of reprogramming the existing green spaces that have a certain potential.
In practice, the 4-year programme proposes 60 dwellings, 7 projects for the (re)development of public spaces or roads, 7 collective facilities and 9 socio-economic operations.
These operations are the result of a participatory approach with the area’s residents, teachers, professionals, students and organizations. The participation includes three phases:
- carefully surveying the social climate; - encouraging citizen participation through a call for ideas; - setting up a forum of exchange between organizations, experts and citizens.
A symposium on public-private partnerships was organized to assess the possibilities of setting up a public-private partnership in the context of the neighbourhood contracts.
