ONG&ONG designed the American International Hospital with the comfort and luxury of a nice hotel while creating a space for important medical care in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
American International Hospital (AIH) is one of the first hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, designed and operated to American hospital standards. With its capacity of 120 beds on 10 stories, AIH is equipped with modern medical facilities.
The interiors bridge the blurred boundary between medical space and a luxury hotel’s experience, replicating the latter’s positive effects to improve psychology and promote healing and recovery for the body.
Elegant interiors decorate the welcome lounges and private suites, with the influence of nature from the hospital’s surrounding area apparent throughout the design.
The theme is split into separated zones, each corresponding with different aspects of pine forests which surround the hospital. While several sections recall shapes and hues of a wooden spine, repeated usage of the green palette is expressed through its furniture, common areas and decor.
Highlighted features include a harmonious light arrangement on the main stairwell and a suspended chandelier in main area. These designs favour lighting and natural colours to benefit patients and visitors, improving recovery, and encouraging positive habits for a healthier lifestyle.
