The idea behind the project was to create a cozy and quiet space to be called home, a place in the heart of a pulsing city that would nevertheless bring peace and comfort. The kitchen is central, despite not being preponderant, in the main room to celebrate the joy of cooking. The couch (easily transforming into a single bed) in front of a wide window was thought to be a resting nest to gaze up to the sky. The bedroom is in light color but a big clear blue ocean frame provides a sense of deep movement. The bathroom is widened by an entire wall mirror and the original - yet renovated - oval window brings to mind an ancient boat.
The main challenge was to make the space efficient, smart and capacious, despite the small size of the apartment. A space that would allow the everyday needs of a real person to be accommodated.
A wooden floor was chosen to create a sense of warmth and to ensure the pleasure of walking bare foot. The herringbone design was adopted for a distinctive look and to create movement. The dark color of the kitchen, along with its iron shelf, aimed to create a focus on the action of the kitchen. The couch on the other side of the room is made of a raw material with coloring reflecting those of the kitchen. The glass table as well as the chairs were chosen to not take up too much visual space. Again, the materials in the bedroom are unrefined to reconnect with nature.
