This story is about Mr Shahidullah Chowdhury (client). His ancestors were landlord there. For the job purpose, he tends to live in the Chattagram city. So the next generation couldn’t get the touch of nature where Mr Shahidullah gets his first lesson in life. So it was a journey to backwards where everything started.
In Bangla which means SONDHAN. Though his other brother lived beside his land with their families.
Here the climate is not other than like another part of Bangladesh. Southeast monsoon air accompanied by the western coastal breeze.
The land area he got by birthright was narrow like 16ft x 60ft. So the main challenge was to arrange the functions in one bay of the grid. As his brother was beside him so the east-west side was blocked by their single storied house. For proper light, a light well was created from roof to bottom. So it could give proper light in the ground floor too. A mini Ghatla (water body) created under the stair. The front façade which faces north was opened by ‘Khirki-palla’ folded door. Khirki palla means some louvred folded door.
Kachari Ghor was provided at the entrance which is a semi-outdoor space with water and sitting. A perforated wall provided for the better fenestration and light in the skin of the building. Then the main living room provided. Dining was divided by the central courtyard where the light well ends. In the first, there are two bedrooms connected by a spine (bridge). In the upper floor, there is a meeting space with a green balcony.
