Studio Autori has transformed a historic apartment in the centre of Belgrade into its own spacious architecture studio. The interior not only reflects the team and their daily activities, but acts as a source of inspiration for the designers.
Sitting somewhere between a studio, a contemporary office and a gallery, this working space offers a variety of different scenarios to unfold. Studio Autori wanted to embrace the idea of a blank canvas, , serving as an invitation for creative projects and activities to come to life while new objects filling the space over time.
Laid out on a neutral soft background of natural clay surfaces, the clean composition features oversized interior elements and furniture pieces highlighted with black detailing. An endless play of ever-changing light is brought into the interior through a series of moving reflective surfaces. A pair of large-scale pivot mirror doors that equally connect and separate the entrance, working area and conference room appear as a key spatial element, offering a fresh perspective each time they are rotated.
Breaking the sleekness of the interior and as a homage to the building’s lively and rich history, a small model-making workshop appears in contrast to the interior with original window frames and a hardwood floor painted in black.
Once inside the office, the hectic buzz of the city centre dissipates, allowing the designers to immerse themselves within the studio while exploring the ways the interior mood shifts and changes throughout the day.
When it comes to furniture, most of it was designed by Studio Autori and carefully made by their trusted collaborators. The project allowed the team to experiment and see objects come to life while testing new designs by living with and around them.
