Located in the neighborhood called « La Tranchée », this project benefit from an outstanding site.

Formerly an industrial wasteland, the site is surrounded by a railway at the East and one of the main roads linking to Sète at the West, both ways below the site. Thus, the site takes place on a rocky promontory from where a large landscape opens, from the Mediterranean Sea to the Regional Park of Grands Causses, passing through the Etang of Thau and the city of Balaruc-les-Bains.

The project takes part in a larger-scale property operation of 18 000 m², concerning the urban design of the La Tranchée sector. This one consists in create a group composed by collective and individual housings, including 41% of social housing. In that way, the main idea is to create social diversity in order to restore the balance in the city. Moreover, the project also redesigns the circulations to emphasis other forms of soft mobilities.

The project is composed by two buildings: the building A accommodate 64 social housings, and the building B accommodate 44 open housings.

The rectangular shape breaks in the middle and create two or three housing units. The interstices created between them accommodate the vertical circulations. The different orientations obtained permits to contemplate the whole landscape and to fit the shape of the site.

Both volumes are made with white coat concrete, as immaculate. The slab nose bands are prefabricated white concrete, whereas the railings and the facade blades are white metal or blue and red gradient metal echoing the multitudes of lights and colors found at the edge of the Mediterranean Sea.
