I bring you today’s post in the honour of two things – Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair currently taking place in… errr, well Stockholm, and Ilse Crawford who is this year’s Guest of Honour. For me, personally, I will take any opportunity to honour the work of Ms Crawford and her clever team at Studioilse, so once we received these beautiful images of her London HQ shot by the very talented Leslie Williamson from Stockholm Fair Press Office, the idea for this post was a no brainer.

As part of her Guest of Honour “duties”, Ilse Crawford has created a lounge in Stockholmsmässan’s entrance hall. (Previous Guests of Honour at the Stockholm Fair have been Patricia Urquiola, GamFratesi, Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Oki Sato/Nendo and Konstantin Grcic to name a few.) Crawford, who had been named one of Great Britain’s most influential women within the design industry, is a designer, academic and creative director with the goal of putting people’s needs and desires at the centre of everything she does. Crawford has a strong connection with Sweden, having completed a number of projects there such as the concept development and interior design of Mathias Dahlgren’s restaurants in Stockholm’s Grand Hotel, lighting for Wästberg, as well as brand identity and interior design of the luxury hotel Ett Hem in Stockholm. Other projects have included brand and interior design of Soho House New York and the concept and interior of Duddell’s in Hong Kong. Also, who could forget her more recent project at The Apartment in Copenhagen that left me in tears. (Not me!)

It is not surprising to discover that Studioilse’s HQ is every bit as charming as Crawford’s other work – the studio has plenty of inherent character, it is flooded with natural light, and filled with many beautiful peaces of furniture, lighting and objects, creating a distinct feel this interior has been lovingly put together over time. Apart from looking incredibly beautiful, the spaces are comfortable, elegant and sophisticated, and at the same time feel utterly natural, unpretentious and authentic.
