The aim of the diploma thesis is to draw attention to the issue of under-used traffic areas – brownfields, introduce possible solutions and on one particular Prague brownfield, former marshalling yard Prague – Vršovice, demonstrate possible revitalization.

Analysis of a wide area, where the particular site is situated, as a first step in the practical part of the thesis, helps to characterize the area and to evaluate specific problems that should not be overlooked while designing the revitalization. During the process of creating new functional part of the city the focus is not only on the use of the site itself, but also concentrates on connecting the site with its surrounding area. Revitalization of the brownfield enables easily reach two city districts, Staré Strašnice and Zahradní město, which are currently separated by the “forgotten” marshalling yard.
