That's exactly how we would describe A7 Apartment, a project completed earlier this year. The Pure-Mess team's approach is that of an urban-contemporary style that borrows wabi-sabi accents to break the mold of classic modern design.
The living area is enlivened by the custom-made sofa, which is also the central element that provides an atmosphere of relaxation and disconnection from everyday life. The Wabi-Sabi elements transform the space into a 'home' and encourage guests to spend time in the cozy living room.
We wanted the wabi-sabi accents to embrace the entire interior design and to intertwine the atmosphere so that the apartment becomes "home". Elements such as wood, upholstery and natural textures create an authentic comfort and underpin an overall impression of simple space that encourages quality time spent indoors.
The accuracy and symmetry of modern design is the opposite of wabi-sabi elements. They stand out for their creativity, imperfect finishes and naturalism. The whole design feels like an escape from modern design patterns.
The kitchen takes from the simplicity of the design of the layout and starts as a complement to the living area. In this area the connection to natural elements is achieved through the Inalco ceramic pattern found in the countertop and the brise. The combination of the variety of conglomerate stones and the finishes of the metal suspended fixtures contributes to the authenticity of the style of the whole design.
The functionality of the hallway is matched by its aesthetics, which take up common elements of the design. You can easily see that its role supports the smooth transition between the semi-open space and the living room.
The imprint of Pure-Mess architects is particularly visible in the bathroom area, where the styles used reflect the entire design. Natural elements are represented by Inalco's Iseo ceramic tiles and represent the raw side of the bathroom. They highlight the Azalai black marble that gives depth and highlights the detail of the modern furniture, made of milled MDF, painted in copper color and with satin finish.
Although Wabi-Sabi is primarily a lifestyle, Pure-Mess architects have succeeded in bringing to life a design with a unified design and inspired accents.
The bedroom is also aligned to the inspiration of natural elements, here the warm colours given by the wood and photo carpet shade are supported by the stormy grey that encourages a return to nature.
The photocarpet has a pattern where we wanted to show that imperfections can be real qualities when talking about connecting with nature, in this case clay and traces of dry earth.
