Since 1909, the Rectory and the Church of the Protestant Community have adorned the municipality of Overdinkel and are listed as historical buildings in Losser, the Netherlands. Such buildings are protected thanks to their cultural and historical value, and therefore require a restoration permit if work is carried out on them.

In 2019, Marco Bergsma, owner of Hoveniersbedrijf Bergsma (Bergsma Landscaping Company), had the opportunity to purchase the two historical buildings. However this was not his first experience in such an adventure since he previously acquired the Zoekeschool and transformed it into the current office for his landscaping company.

Bergsma sought the ideal goal for the restoration project, preferably to provide a service for the community of Overdinkel. He decided to create a multifunctional health center that would accommodate a General Practitioner and multiple healthcare facilities, including a Psychologist and a Physiotherapist. By sharing a central location, these healthcare providers can support each other for the benefit of their patients.

Bergsma decided to collaborate with materials supplier Raab Karcher. The distributor searched for the ideal cladding product and chose Rockpanel Metals in a bronze colour. Bronze is often used by Bergsma Hoveniers in their garden designs and in the end the choice fell on 'Advanced Bronze'. "The material color perfectly complemented the palette of other materials and the existing structure. Additionally, the material is breathable, making it perfect for exterior facades," says Martin Elferink, commercial representative at Raab Karcher.

The entire exterior facade of the new construction section was clad with Rockpanel Metals Advanced Bronze, covering an area of 375 m2. The facade panels, with a thickness of eight millimeters, were cut on-site and then mounted using nails.

Rockpanel panels are made from compressed stone wool derived from basalt, a volcanic rock found in nature. This allows them to combine the advantages of stone with the ease of handling found in wood. They are durable and fully weather-, temperature-, and UV-resistant. Thanks to their long lifespan, the product requires minimal to no maintenance after installation. They are naturally fire-safe and lightweight, making them easy to transport, cut, and install.
