AMA re-established the original Georgian floor plans of the building QS-08 - where principal rooms are located front and rear, and a new timber staircase with concealed lift shaft behind provide the vertical circulation of the building. Alongside the internal refurbishment, the roof was remodelled and the rear elevation was substantially rebuilt. The refurbishment of the period rooms began by restoring the original plasterwork, wall mouldings and skirtings, with bespoke joinery pieces introduced as freestanding furniture. Traditional wainscoting was reinterpreted in order to define the workspaces using flush oak panels, which simultaneously conceal services and provide a robust wall finish. The material palette of natural oak, stone and pale grey provides a backdrop for the Deirdre Dyson rugs and fitted carpets. Through their use of bold geometric designs, they were developed with the scheme to bring contrast and complimentary accent colours to define and enhance the individual rooms.
