师takashi suo受邀要对takamatsu市设计一个多功能的城市景观空间，此次的机会非常难得，因此，该设计师也非常重视此次的机会。据悉，为了完成该项目，主办方举办了一个国际性的竞赛，一共吸引了超过213个设计团队的参加，其中有六个作品已经被提前选中进入竞赛的最后阶段。从这些参选作品中来看，评审团其中包括著名的设计师kazuyo sejima都认为suo的作品是最打动人的，第二名便是sou fujimoto的作品。其他的设计作品则分别来自junya ishigami, NAYA architects, happenstance collective团队，aief的作品也考虑过。

japanese architect takashi suo has been chosen ahead of compatriots sou fujimoto and junya ishigami to design a multipurpose facility for the city of takamatsu. the international competition attracted 213 submissions, six of which were chosen to advance to the final stage of the contest. from these entries, a jury that included kazuyo sejima selected the design by SUO (takashi suo’s kyoto-based studio), with sou fujimoto placing second. other proposals from junya ishigami, NAYA architects, happenstance collective, and aief were also considered.

to be built on yashima — a 282 meter-tall lava plateau that overlooks the seto inland sea — the scheme will serve as an observatory and local landmark, while also including gallery space for public exhibitions.SUO’s winning proposal is a hybrid steel and timber structure. the scheme forms an irregularly shaped enclosure with a continuous walkway that surrounds a centrally positioned park. the judging panel praised the design for its originality and lightness, as well as for the way the scheme harmonizes with its surrounding context. however, the jury remained concerned about the amount of exhibition space on offer, and have asked the architect to further develop his initial design.
