In Cappadocia, there lies a lonely mountain. The concept is been dedicated to those, who travel to Turkey and meet up artists from all around the world. They were invited to the place to stay couple of months and deliver art projects, communial or individual ones. The mountain by the river, was meant to keep to inspiration steady so that creativity would be fed constantly. The concept took its shape from a dragon, which i will talk about later about his story.
The form of the concept, gave me the ability to break up with all kind of cubic forms which limits the space unnecessarily. I wanted to create an open space, where the dweller or the passenger should create a bound to feel relax enough in a limited time.
Cappadocia as it stands, is a place full of naturally shaped rocks, and had been affected by volcanic fire for a long time. Thus it has a gentle kind of dirt which allows the locals to harvest many kinds of vegetation. It fit up with my conceptual idea of bringing Japanese culture together with Turkish local culture. And creating a space where only artists from different eras could use. Because the sound of a touristic place never comfort me at all eversince i started the project. And I, myself am also very found of arts.
As a School project, this is suppose to be a place where people(especially Japanese, we were asked) can stay for some time, like a hotel, and also in that time they can get involved with something includes local business or anything that is related to Turkish culture.
I have choosen, as i mentioned before, to create a studio-like place where creates 3-4 month periods of events for the artists all around the world but especially from Japan.
These are my first conceptual, measured drawings, after the sketchings.. I made a dozen of them. A frustrating process, starting to create something..
I will add up new drawings as they come.
Wish me luck :)
