The presented solution is intended for the construction of a Residential Structure for the Elderly (ERPI), commonly called of Nursing Home. The solution is based on a prior analysis of the different cultural, urban and legal contexts, as well as in the strategic organization of the various spaces that make up the program for an ERPI. In this sense and in view of the demographic portrait of the Portuguese population, the ability to respond to the various needs is a priority present in the socio-economic plan of the older population, namely in their housing needs, living together and biopsychosocial problems. 

Therefore, one of the main premises of the project is to assume a prominent position in social integration and to provide comfort and well-being for these generations, trying to be inclusive and dynamic in order to satisfy their present and future needs.

In this context, the proposed residential structure is defined in a single autonomous building, whose design will prioritize the system construction of light walls inside and thus “Allowing malleability considering spatial adaptations or technological improvements, by introducing materials and equipment appropriate to their needs”. Through the introduction of “constructive systems that allow easy maintenance of the building”, as well as its “energy management and environmental”, we are providing an improvement in the quality of life of its residents.
