The new "Teatro dei Ragazzi" is a theatrical structure for use by the younger generations created in the imposing former AEM booth originally intended to meet the electricity needs of the nearby municipal stadium and neighboring facilities.
The basilical structure of the building made it possible to create a flexible space, capable of absorbing the various theatrical needs in a structure that was already well suited to accommodate the invasive stage equipment and the complex technological systems needed.
The technique chosen for the recovery was in the name of lightness, respecting the original essential features of the pre-existing structure and acting on them with discretion to adapt them to the new intended use.
Therefore, machinery was re-converted, the composition of the façade reinterpreted, new structures and functionalities inserted, allowing the constructive peculiarities of each era to interact in a game of references guided by balance and mutual respect.
Thus it was possible to obtain, in a rigorous configuration such as that of the former AEM cabin, in addition to the spaces for the performances, numerous environments capable of accommodating the various educational options that the theater wants to perform: laboratories, ateliers, rehearsal rooms.
The excavation of a large auditorium has allowed both to make the basement accessible where theatrical machines and services are located, and to set up an additional theatrical space outdoors.
