Huanshilao, a Cantonese 

restaurant, got its name from 

the Chinese proverb that 

“food is the first necessity of 

the people” and tastes the 

best when shared. The 

restaurant strives to preserve 

the dishes’ original flavours 

and promote them 

among locals

既风情烟火又风味万千

的温和空间，强调与

人接触的质感，在意当

日繁华的收放自如

We insisted on designing a 

calm space with distinctive 

features and flavours and 

focused on its texture and 

the demonstration of 

its beauty

原本超高的尺度，

改作两层上下，引出

二层外观的小体量建筑

格局，外挑的楼梯破开外

墙，小格窗的组合形成

整个餐厅的语言体系

The elevated space is divided 

into two storeys to create 

small and simple spaces. The 

small windows and a 

staircase that goes through 

the exterior wall form the 

overall look of the restaurant

石灰白的漆面，贯穿

整个空间。我们将

似家非家的错觉，

通过家具、柜体

融进餐桌四周，

以用来弱化尺度

的距离，使空间始

终保持接纳姿态

while lime-white walls 

stretch across the entire 

space. The integration of 

furniture and cupboards 

into the space around 

dining tables create a 

homely illusion and reduce 

the sense of distance, 

thus keeping the space 

welcoming

亚热带的植物与

手工编织的落地灯

共同找回老广东和南

洋的闹市滋味

The subtropical plants and 

hand-woven standard lamps 

evoke the feeling of bustling downtowns in old 

Guangdong and 

Southeast Asia

打开这扇门，山川

依旧，风味不改

Behind this door, the scenery

remains unchanged and
