Envisioned as an iconic open space, the client sought a design which would differentiate Bluff Creek Park from other parks in Playa Vista, CA. OJB established a unique language of wood architectural features which were seamlessly incorporated throughout the design in the entry markers, restrooms, and shade structures. Created for the benefit of the Playa Vista community, the active park is situated along the Bluff Creek Trail. The park fulfills the need for additional active recreational space and alleviates some of the user traffic at the adjacent Sports Park. The design includes a soccer field, a tennis court, grass play area, playgrounds, event spaces and separate dog parks for large and small breeds. Walking paths nestled among tree groves lead visitors to a botanical garden located at the west end of the park. Beneath the trees, moveable furniture awaits visitors looking to relax in the shade. Irrigated by reclaimed water, native and adaptive, drought-tolerant planting is used throughout the design.
