Architectural renovation and interior design by KANZ Architetti The apartment is part of a nineteenth-century building in the island of Giudecca in Venice. The incredibly favorable position and the presence of a large window, gives the house a spectacular overlook on the San Marco basin. The view is a pure Canaletto painting and it’s tempting to sit all day in the pristine, pared back living area watching the light on the water, the passing boats, the people going about their business. The view on the outside is the element that animates the project, so the large living area is designed to be turned entirely towards the water, to capture the reflections in the living area and to give a glimpse of the city to those who sit in the long dining table or kitchen counter. The spaces are defined by clean lines and simple but present volumes, thanks also to the slight chromatic variations of the vertical and horizontal surfaces. The diversified use of lighting fixtures defines spaces and functions within a single living area.
