Casa BFF - BFF Banking Group’s new headquarters - is above all an urban project, starting from the very context of Viale Scarampo as one of the primary entrance axes of Milan. Set back from the street alignment, the building is designed by OBR to be the background of a new civic place. This is why this project contributes to the public domain, creating a new piazza, a super-urban place, where celebrating a renewed ritual of urbanity.
The piazza is defined by a 40-metre-high portico, which supports a large solar-canopy, a regular geometrical solar-canopy which draws the “fifth elevation” of Casa BFF, perfectly recognizable in the map of the city seen from above. The roof top includes the restaurant with its panoramic terrace conceived as a common space from which to admire the city.
Like a flying carpet over the piazza, the solar canopy is both a passive and an active device: it offers shelter by protecting from bad weather, and at the same time contributes to meeting the energy needs of the building and its urban surroundings. With its 2,300 square meters of photovoltaic panels, the solar canopy produces 360 Megawatt hours/per year, becoming the manifesto of BFF’s environmental values and having the project LEED Platinum and WELL Gold certified.
The interiors allow for maximum reconfigurability and personalization, guaranteeing adaptability to the greatest variety of possible layouts, including relaxing and informal areas between indoors and outdoors. The workspaces are designed to create a desirable place that fosters a strong sense of belonging, where people are encouraged to express their skills and aspirations. Anticipating the future means encouraging exchange and interaction, imagining a place where ideas can easily circulate and fertilize.
