Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles Limited is a joint venture between the Volvo Group and Eicher Motors Limited in the Indian Commercial Vehicle market.
The purpose of the corporate showcase is to represent the company’s vision of driving modernization in commercial transportation along with their top of the line production and distribution processes.
The VECV brand showcase is situated in a central space on the Ground Floor of the company headquarters, a six floor modern, state of the art LEED rated building.
Since VECV is a leader in the transportation sector- the concept of the exhibition was based on the idea of ‘movement’.Enclosed within the grand spiral staircase in the atrium, are two intertwined ribbons constructed with 1500 metal rods strung together. The rods form a double helix and talk about the coming together of two companies while the walls along the staircase showcase their individual histories.
The Helix turns into sinuous ribbons of Corian in the reception lobby traveling into the exhibition space forming the skin for the exhibition.
The exhibition flow takes the visitor through a brief history of the two companies, the vision of VECV, the manufacturing processes, the product range, the services, customer testimonials and ends with the future statement of the company.
An extensive exercise of interviewing the clients- starting from the top management to the person working on the factory floor was conducted. This information was then collated and structured.
The narrative of the exhibition is manifested seamlessly on the Corian skin through type, interactive devices and films.
A moving installation of a cut section of a truck, suspended from the ceiling, forms the focal point of the exhibition. The white ribbons sit lightly in the space creating an experience, which is open and enclosed at the same time.
