LAE Exhibition is a renovation project used to display and exhibit Ao Dai for a designer in Hanoi. We received the current project with a rather small area, lacking typical aesthetic elements and basic functions to welcome customers and use. However, what we find very interesting is that the designer is someone with a long history of experience following the family tradition. The current state of the old space has a large number of special Ao Dai collections located there and the spirit of creativity and innovation in design is constant and very diverse.
After a period of discussion, we believe that the project must both solve essential functional issues and provide an artistic experience space for customers.
We propose to create a display and exhibition space for Ao Dai that can welcome a large number of people to enjoy and interact with the work more instead of just a space that makes the most of the area for sale. .
To implement that idea, our solution is that the main structure of the space is made up of characteristic thin layers of silk, acting as "transparent" and gentle partitions, helping to divide and define each layer of space. They focus on the theme, customer experiences and products displayed and exhibited here.
Soft, flexible layers of silk with different pitches, positions, and sizes create a central "stage" where the largest number of people gather to interact with the surrounding works. In addition to gently dividing layers of space, those silk panels can be flexibly attached or removed to reveal different spaces, can be flexibly changed and painted with different themes depending on each purpose and need for future display and exhibition.
The project also reflects the desire to create a contemporary exhibition space that retains traditional and local elements by combining natural materials such as stone, iron, steel, and wood in new form and function.
LAE Exhibition is also a project where we create emotions about the naive, timid, and luxurious image of a young woman in Ao Dai. These are also the emotions that we and our customers want to feel in the space after completion.
