NARRATIVE |
Silvergreen is a prefabricated, multifamily, certified Passive House, centered in the National Landmark District of Bryn Athyn PA, blending history, Zero Energy, and Living Building Philosophy with Carbon Smart materials.
Conceived by the owner to set an example for her two boys, Silvergreen was built to lead the historic community of Bryn Athyn, PA toward a more sustainable and resilient future. Currently in use as an affordable rental, the lifespan for the building is forecast over three generations for a series of future uses. With the vision to pair history and technology aside experience and workforce education, the design build teams achieved zero energy, redacted carbon, employed non-toxic natural materials, granted morning winter light, anticipated renovations, eased the future installation of solar and electric vehicles, and protected wetlands through on-site stormwater infiltration.
