巨大的烟囱矗立于闹市中，红砖与尘土毫无遮拦地袒露着前尘往事。往事，并不遥远，它是工业文明的浪潮中风风火火的主人公。前尘，只剩渺茫，当功成身退，还有几人记得它曾经的担当与风光？就算记得，又能如何？它是一个被抛弃在岁月中的沉默者，时间越是向前，它便越是格格不入。以它为核心，铺陈出一片繁华中的“荒原”。偌大2000平米的空间，前生是锅炉房、洗衣房、杂物间，蒸腾着芜杂的气息，它们是时代更新进程中的废弃物，却并不能一键进入回收站，只能窘迫地立足于现实生活，与周围居民区零阻隔，它荒废的模样，朝着每一户认真生活的人家。

The chimney stands huge in the downtown area, its red bricks and accumulated dust suggesting its remote past. With the chimney as the heart, a spacious wasteland of 2,000㎡ spreads out. This space, which used to be the site of a boiler room, a laundry, a utility room, and staff dormitories, smells of desolation. Deserted as it is in the fast developing modern age, it can not be removed into the recycle bin with a click of mouse. Awkwardly, it crouches among the surrounding residential areas.

Seven architects worked jointly to renovate this abandoned space, and smartly named it Guolu, combining Guolu, the Chinese equivalent for boiler, and Luzhou, the ancient name of Hefei. Integrating industry aesthetics and life aesthetics, through artistic reconstruction, Guolu Art Space introduces the soul of nature into this deserted industrial site in the downtown area, and thus narrates in a novel manner the story of this city. With these features, this project has become one of Hefei’s unique experimental culturally-creative projects.

Waste is not beauty. Nevertheless, with professional skills and artistic eyes, you can turn waste into beauty and herald in an avant-garde way of living.

烟囱是一个隐喻。有多少人像它一样，在自己作的茧中义无反顾攀升。十年童真，十年青春，十年打拼，十年创业，仿佛是理想人生的科学分配。只是当越过了一个又一个山丘，结果都是无人等候。没有人能够回到从前，和你来一场独属于青春的莽莽撞撞的历险；没有人能够回到从前，和你一起弥补那些错过的柔软时光；没有人能够回到从前，和你共同开启一个前途未知的计划。而它们，是生命最动人的色彩。你必须知道，在这个时代里，我们有可能让高度和宽度一同增长。有可能，在已然牢固的理论与实践根基上生长出一份情怀宣言。春去冬来，历经八个月付诸心血去改造，将这片由烟囱与锅炉房构成的荒原变成全新的“锅庐SPACE”。在这个由荒废转身而来的空间里，办公区、城市会客厅和民宿各自独立，整体审美达成一致。如今，它诗意的面貌，也朝着每一户认真生活的人家。

Back in the 1980s, at this site, were built a heating boiler room, a laundry and staff dormitories for the high-standard Qiyun Hotel in Hefei, the capital of Anhui Province, with the towering red brick chimney as the hallmark. Later, with domestic industries being upgraded, the original functions of this space gradually gave way to the new development, and this area was abandoned. Deserted for nearly ten years, this area is now the only left area composed of small-scale industrial ruins in the downtown area.After nine months’ renovation, this place was transformed into a culturally creative complex consisting of Art Salon, Artistic Guest Rooms, and Creative Design Joint Offices.

城市会客厅的二楼是书店。引入一家书店，是“锅庐”发起人的执念，因为某种情结，最终选择与陪伴这个城市二十多年岁月的爱知书店合作，在这里衍生出一间小小的爱知设计书店。低调精良的陈设，匹配着知识的价值。还有可能，让人生的宽度在眼前直观分布。

Art Salon lies where the main body of the old boiler room was. Decades ago, workers hurled coal into the hearth shovel by shovel. The coal burnt vehemently herein. Years of coal burning left vestiges of smoke on the walls and ceiling of the boiler room. These historical imprints we attempted to retain to the greatest extent. Regarding the interior space, we simply had it sanitarily cleaned and structurally reinforced. On the basis of this, to promote overall comfort, we had modern floor-heating and ventilating systems installed. This transformation, cost-efficient and time-saving, takes into account both history and modernity.

代表责任的工作室，代表情感的会客厅，和代表最无拘无束的梦想的设计师民宿，有着合适的距离——这么近，居于其中的人们时时能够自由切换频道；又那么远，让人不得不对一切付出与回报保持冷静的考量。三分天下的不同空间，凝练了人生硬盘的构成，想要什么，付出什么，值得什么，每个人都要摇摇晃晃中努力保持平衡。只有眼前不苟且，才有可能到达远方和诗意。

Sitting on the east side of Art Salon, a façade comprised of large transparent glass creates a seemingly more spacious space by integrating seamlessly the outdoor weathered chimney and open water with the indoor space. The 7-meter-high interior space, with the mottled walls left alone purposefully, is furnished with modern black steel staircases, which creates a merging sense of both the past and the present. The whole space here is divided into two floors: the first floor is equipped with Nordic-styled antique furniture and historical objects to create an art salon with historical atmosphere; the second floor is reserved for Design Books Division of Aichi Bookstore, a cultural hallmark in Hefei, to enhance its artistic atmosphere. Here, you can work, daydream, or chat away with your friends. It is amazingly cozy and comfortable.

更有可能，无须远走高飞，而能体验7种人生。7位设计师依据7种建筑格局，融入各自生活理解，设计和建造了7间完全不“标准”、绝无重复感的民宿。“早机去晚机回”太累，从简洁明亮到拉丁风情，在这里，只是一转身的距离。而返璞归真也可以循序渐进，从享受一种清新豁达的愉悦，到一片纯白中褪去一切负累，直至在曾经的“工寓”中回顾城市和个人心灵的建筑史。不要去羡慕体验不同人生是写作和表演者的特权，其实每个人都有胜任不同角色的天分。

The old staff dormitories at this site, were reconstructed into seven guest rooms, each of which was designed by one of the seven architects, bespeaking its own style and its own attitude. The guest rooms’ styles were inspired by the architects’ observation of the world and their experience of life as well.These seven rooms were named respectively Elisa, Dormy, Carefree, Initial Joy, Self-Reflection, Future Dwelling, Yu (one of the five Chinese music notes). Unlike conventional guest rooms, they are furnished with antique handiworks the architects found out in different places and present with you a pure and carefree atmosphere. The seven architects of us aim to interact with you by means of these guest rooms, and inspire you to interpret life unconventionally.What’s more, the comfort of staying in any of these guest rooms matches, if not exceeds, that of staying in a five-star hotel room. There is a communal thermostatic swimming pool for the guests. All the guest rooms are equipped with Villeroy & Boch (a German brand) toilet facilities, upscale mattresses and other five-star hotel room facilities.

荒废不是美，但你可以把荒废的变成美。情怀它不是没有用，而是要走出小我的束缚，去影响更多人的生活。是蜕变后的情怀，让巨大的烟囱，突然有了让人向往的前程。除了傲慢与偏见，没有什么应当被抛弃，这是锅庐宣言。

Guolu Art Space is surrounded by the old residential buildings, with the nearest residential building two meters away and the farthest not more than ten meters away. In the boisterous jungle of city, it quenches your thirst for privacy, tranquility, and independence. While the surrounding exterior environment of these rooms is beyond our reach to improve, we attempted to create an amazingly unique and exclusively comfortable interior space for you, the roamer in cities. This special experience of transcending the limits of time and space may trigger the memory of your past experience; or it may be confirmed someday by your future experience.
