SPS+ Architects was tasked with completing the Western Maricopa Education Center Northwest Campus in Surprise, Arizona.
Our concept juxtaposes, rather than clusters, disciplines to promote collaboration and innovation among students, faculty and professional staff. West-MEC was looking for a space that both its students and the community could enjoy. The dynamic learning labs and presentation rooms, informal break-out spaces and connected indoor and outdoor spaces make each element of the sustainable designed facility an educational environment.

West-MEC is a joint technical education public school district that focuses solely on innovative career and technical education (CTE) programs that prepare students to enter the workforce and pursue continuing education. West-MEC CTE programs provide students opportunities to earn college credit and industry credentials. West- MEC serves more than 29,000 students from 46 high schools, across 3,600 square miles in the northern and western cities of the Phoenix Metropolitan area. West-MEC now also offers adult education programs.
SPS+ Architects, McCarthy Building Co. and many other firms provided full services and designed an all-new facility that will bring Academic Collisions™ to life. Our concept juxtaposes, rather than clusters, disciplines to promote collaboration and innovation among students, faculty and professional staff.
