As the uninsulated building shell caused significant temperature fluctuations in the interior, new roof insulation was installed for the 8,800 square-metre roof membrane. In addition,
attachment windows or highly insulating Janisol HI steel windows were fitted. The Janisol HI windows combine elegant frame profiles with innovative technology that provides maximum thermal separation. Thanks to their triple-glazed insulation glass, these windows achieve outstanding uW heat transfer values of up to 0.69 W/m2K (for fixed glazing) or 0.8 W/m2K (for windows). The tram depot’s skylights have been created using Jansen’s
facade system.
In the fully enclosed tram washing facility Ernst & Humbel used the Schüco AWS 65 aluminium window system. The washing enclosure has been designed to enable all current and future tram vehicles to be completely cleaned regardless of the outdoor conditions. This also reduces noise emissions in the immediate neighbourhood.
