Robba is a new restaurant and cafe, located in the center of Ljubljana on Town Square directly near the famous fountain, also known as the “Fountain of the Three rivers”. Formal linkage between fountain itself and the interior is not accidental and would like to make a strong impression on visitors. The approximately 1200 triangles, which are creating a strong texture, which is uniform throughout the entire bar illustrate the edges of the near by fountain, the largest work of the Italian sculptor Francesco Robba, from the 18th century, which was then a strong presence in this region and his work can be found at several churches in Ljubljana. The space is based on the principle of the pack of matches. Its shell is white, in which slides in a tray, telling its own story as the basis furniture that stands on it. Pattern consist of a large triangle geometric parts of OSB boards in pastel pink, black, white and natural color. Graphic design leaned on the work of Baroque master Francesco Robba, who was chosen by the architects for the main protagonist of the Restaurant Robba. “Star-shaped large dimensions and a bold, eye-catching assortment of colors is definitely relate to the excessive nature, which is typical of Baroque. Although OSB panels are considered a simple and cost-effective solution in the case of Restaurant Robba proved just how challenging it can be to work with them, stacking them on the tongue and groove principle, like usual parquet floors. Space itself is narrow and long, with several levels and height degrading from entrance to the back of the restaurant. Three-dimensional patterned application opticaly changes a human perception of a real spacial dimesions. Special attention was paid to the lighting. Black wall lamps, spreaded throughout the space, with it’s feature to move freely, are the dividing line between past and present - between the whiteness and colourfulness of the Robba. Interior, which rises in three levels, is enhanced by a variety of ambiences, which differ according to the various types of seating. An integrated fireplace is providing a special atmosphere in winter.
