这是一个新当代博物馆的竞赛方案。其面临的主要问题是：它如何协调与傍边已是标志性大桥的关系。建筑在这里要么成为衬景，要么与桥遥相呼应。这个城市是探戈舞的发源之地，跳探戈的两个人距离忽远忽近，但又以相同舞步和韵律扭动。因此建筑也力求营造出与桥的共舞效果。

建筑被一个动感的外壳包裹。底层广场优美的起伏，直到探入大厅中。底层是机房，存储，装卸等空间，它们通过货运电梯与建筑联系。

探戈般动感流动的空间也是内部空间的追求。四个封闭的展厅块儿独立存在，他们在水平和垂直距离之间都有空隙，这些空隙就为建筑的公共空间，建筑内的整个公共空间是一气呵成，相互贯通的，同时每个较为单独的区域都为人们提供了一个不同的空间体验。建筑百叶外表皮让阳光渗透进各个区域，也让人们的视线穿透出去，看到整个全景景观。建筑的百叶在不同方位有着不同的角度应对太阳，并在不同的高度产成多样的变化。

35米高度的咖啡餐区和54米高度的文化多用途空间为人们提供了观看城市美丽景色的场地。

The main question concerning the new contemporary art museum was: how to deal with a site which has already a bridge as an architectural icon next to it?

In our opinion there are 2 answers to that:creating no icon at all, a museum as a landscape, subordinating the bridgeor a designstrategy combining Puerte de la Muyer and the New Conteporary Art Museum.As the birthplace of Tango, Buenos Aires has a rich tradition of 2 bodies interactingwith each other and moving to the same music . They change their distance; sometimescloser, sometimes further away, but always in the same rhythm.Puente de la Muyer and the New Contemporary Art Museum are those bodies on the site.Puerto Madero their stage. Visitors the audience.As people walking around the district they change their perspective and perceptiontowards the 2 bodies. Hence their dynamic exterior and reflective facade, they alsoseem to change their posistion and appearance. two bodies in motion. one rhythm. onecombined icon for Buenos Aires.

The museum:

beside contextual associations like waves of the waterfront or setting sail for the Fragata Sarmiento nextby, viewports were the main parameter for stacking the program and wrapping it in a vertical structure.

A new horizontal layer ‘the ART CARPET’ extends Calatrava’s Puente de la Mujer and connects it to the surrounding areas of the waterfront and the parking lots in the West.

As the landform slopes up, it envelopes Information, Shop and Delivery areas till it extends the urban fabric into the lobby of the museum. The loading dock facing the main street and the storage and plant rooms on the lower floors can be closed off completely to a seperate secure area and it is connected to all parts of the building via freight elevator.

Tango, rhythm and motion are also key parameter for the circulation system inside the Museum.

The visitors spiral up inbetween the textile facade and the gallery boxes always feeling the context to the outside throughout the louvers till they reach pockets in the facade enabling a wide panoramic view in different directions. the louver system out of aluminium panels is depending on the insolation of the sun and underlines with its different elevations the textile impression of the museum. a diogonal steel – framework connects the facade to the H-beams of the main strucutre.

All the mentioned facilities in the brief are divided into civic areas allowing natural sunlight and the cultural areas, depending on artificial light and climate. Those 2 areas alternate and interweave within the building, but they are all housed in one seamless structure, creating at each point a different spatial experience towards Buenos Aires and directs its visitors intuitevely into its programs. a park/cafe/restaurant area on 35m and a multipurpose space for special cultural occasions on 54m above ground offer a spectacular view towards its dancing partner and over Puerto Madero and therefor transform the structure into a cultural centre for Buenos Aires.
