Unispace realized a space that embodies the music and entertainment that Sonos‘ sound systems deliver for their offices in Seattle, Washington.
The Sonos team reached out to Unispace to help combine two different locations into one collaborative space that could better facilitate their growth and increase cross company communication.
As a result of a strategy exercise to understand the needs of Sonos’ teams, Unispace more than quadrupled the amount of meeting areas and made them more intuitive to fit their tech needs. The workplace has a tailored zone for each discipline, customized to their daily duties and acquired music taste. For example, a raised floor is incorporated in the space, allowing engineers to rearrange furniture configurations quickly.
Acoustics and sound are at the center of the office’s design, and Unispace implemented and tested acoustics throughout every square foot of the space to ensure sound quality is premium whether a local band is making a live appearance or if music is playing over speakers. There are also home-like listening rooms where the product development team can test out new products in isolation.
Their brand was another key factor of the design; the look and feel incorporates high contrast, clean lines, brand colors, natural elements, and furniture and finishes that emulate the look of their speakers. A focal point of the workplace is ‘The Hub’ which serves as a flexible multipurpose atrium for the team to come together at lunch hour, host product launch events or have local bands perform.
The staff enjoys coming into an office where they can truly feel part of the Sonos brand.
