设计亮点
将新旧材料与结构进行对话,创造出一个既保留传统风貌又具有现代气息的青年旅社。

通过这个项目,设计团队试图探讨中国农村普通民居再生中的众多问题,比如:村庄整体风貌与建筑个性的关系,新、旧材料和构造的对比,地域习惯与国际认同之间的矛盾,传统的继承与活化之间的平衡等等。

The design team tries to explore the issues of the revitalization of China’s rural residential buildings, such as the relationship between the overall style of the village and the personality of the architecture, the comparison between new and old materials and structures, the contradictions between local customs and world recognition, the balance between the inherit and the evolution of the traditions, etc.

项目位于浙江省丽水市松阳县四都乡平田村。原建筑是一座普通夯土民居,二层,土木结构,共270平米左右。因为曾经是业主江斌龙爷爷的住所,所以大家将之称为:爷爷家。设计任务是对这个普通民宅进行改造,赋予它新的使用功能和空间,将之激活。经过与业主、地方政府的商讨,我们决定赋予爷爷家一颗年轻的心脏,将之改造成一个符合国际标准的青年旅社。

为了保持村庄的整体风貌,爷爷家的外部形态被完整的保留下来,几乎未变,只在二层朝向良好景观的一面开设了一个长窗,将阳光、空气和良好的景色引入建筑室内。

The project is located in Pingtian village, Sidu Township, Songyang County, Lishui city, Zhejiang province. The original building was ordinary rammed earth dwellings with two storeys and civil structure, covering a total of 270 square meters. People call the place “Papa’s” since it belonged to the owner, the elderly Jiang Binlong. The design goal is to renovate it into a place with new functions and spaces. We decided to put papa’s home a young face — transforming it into a youth hostel with international standard after discussions with the owners and the local government.

To keep the overall style and features of the village, the exterior of papa’s home has been retained completely, almost unchanged. Only a window with a nice view is newly designed and installed on the second floor, where sunshine, air and beautiful scenery can be seen inside the house.

与谨慎对待外部形态不同,设计对于室内进行较为大胆的改变。松阳地区传统民居多为二层;一层中间为堂屋、两侧是居室;二层不住人,用于储存粮食和杂物。爷爷家的空间格局也是这样,一层为三个独立的跨间,二层则呈现为一个通透的“大空间”。设计不想按照常规的作法,修旧如旧,或者作新中式。我们采用了更有张力的作法:使用新的、对比性强的材料和构造体系与旧有的土木结构进行对话。这种对话不是混淆历史信息的对话,而是新与旧的对话。通过它,新者更新,旧者更旧。

Bold changes are adapted to the interior of the house, different from the prudent attitude to the exterior. The house in Song Yang County usually contains two storeys: On the first floor, the living room is in the middle and the bedrooms are on its sides; Storage room is on the second floor to store food and utilities. Same space design is used when it comes to the “papa’s”. Three individual rooms are on the first floor and a spacious room on the second floor. We quit the conventional approach that repairing it back to what it was or blending the new designs in the original existing designs. Rather than that, we adopt a more intense way that to using new, strong comparative material and civil structure to respond with the old civil structure. This conversation is not a dialogue that confuses the age of history, but a dialogue between the new and the old. The new and the old features are amplified in the design.

原建筑的一楼,我们希望为村庄提供一个公共空间。原有建筑室内的隔板被拆除,建筑从原来的分隔状态变为一个通透的大空间。这里将成为青年人交流、休闲的场所,同时也可以为村庄中的村民或者游客提供歇脚的地方。

We plan to provide a public space for the village on the first floor in the original construction. The clapboards in the original construction, dividing the space from one to many, have been demolished, which turns the space back into a whole. It will be a common place for youngsters to social and play. Meanwhile, tourists and villagers also could have a rest here.

对于建筑的二楼,我们希望保留原空间的特质,因此常规的由固定墙体分隔的模式被否定了;一组“房中房”的空间元素被植入原有土房子中。它们由轻质材料建构、可拆卸、可移动,半透明,以一种轻轻的态度“放入”原有建筑相对厚重的内部空间。房中房的实际功能是青旅的居住单元,每个居住单元可容纳4-6人。设计特意采用了半透明的阳光板材料作为界面,它可以营造一种柔和的、模糊性的效果,与原有建筑刚性的生土材料形成对比,更凸显了这个建筑不同时期的性格。

As for the second floor of the construction, we intend to keep the original characteristics of the space, so the conventional method that using the fixed wall to divide the space is denied; several space elements with the concept of “rooms within rooms” are implanted into the original house. They are made up of lightweight materials, which are dismountable, portable and translucent. The “rooms within rooms” are installed inside the original construction, which is gentle and light weighted compared to the original construction. The actual function of “rooms within rooms” is the living units of Papa’s Hostel, each unit can accommodate 4-6 people. The semi-hollow sheets as dividing walls are specially used to create a soft and blurred effect that highlights the construction character of different time periods compared to the original hard materials.

房中房另一个有趣的设计是它可以灵活的移动。这是一组可以“行走”的建筑。构筑物底板下安装有一组万向轮,可以支持房中房在特点方向上的移动。这样处理的好处在于,青旅的室内不是一成不变的形态,它是可变的,可以适应不同的使用需要。年轻人完全可以根据自己的需要,自己推动建筑,完成空间的再造。这对于一个去中心化的时代来说,爷爷家青旅可以说是一个“互动”建筑。

为了营造更具戏剧性的效果,房中房的表皮上开了一系列大小不一的洞口。这些洞口一方面将相对单一的界面变得活跃起来,另一方面为界面内外的使用者提供了相互“窥视”的可能性。这种处理的设计灵感借鉴了儿童看待世界的方式:躲在小空间中,通过小洞口窥视外面的世界。设计师希望通过这种处理将使用者的心理年龄拉回到充满好奇心的孩童时代。

Another interesting feature of the “rooms within rooms” is flexible mobility. They are rooms that can “walk”. There is a set of universal wheels under the structure plate, so it could be moved towards certain directions. Hence the indoors of the hostel can be changeable that could meet different needs. Young people can move the mobile structures and reconstruct the space. The mobility of the rooms make the Papa’s Hostel a design involved with many people rather than just the designers to create countless possibilities installing the rooms in one space.

Different sizes of the holes are designed on the surface of the “rooms within rooms” to make a dramatic effect. These openings make the relatively single interface more active, and provide the possibilities for people to “peek” each other. The design is inspired by the way children to see the world–hiding in a small space and peeking the outside world through a small hole. Designers expect the design could call up the childhood memory of the users who were full of curiosity.

光的处理进一步加强了室内空间的特性。屋顶的明瓦和大侧窗将天然光引入室内,led线光源被安置在房中房的木构架上,在内部看呈现出自由的构成线条,从外部看则把房中房渲染成一个不太均匀的光盒子。整个空间的照明就由自然光和白色光盒子照亮。在大多数时间内,天然光、暖白灯光通过半透明材料的反射、折射照亮整个空间,变化多端的光影效果给人温馨、模糊和迷幻的感觉;但在某些特定时段,藏在“房中房”中的有色灯管会开启,它们把空间营造成一个富于激情的场所。

The design of the light strengthens the characteristics of the interior space. Transparent tiles on the roof and large side windows will let the natural light flow into the rooms. LED line light sources are placed in the wooden framework of the “rooms within rooms”, showing as natural lines when looking from the inside, a soft shine box of light when looking from the outside. The illumination of whole space is provided by natural light and the box. Most of the time, the natural light and warm white light are reflected and refracted by the semi-transparent materials to light up the whole space. Changeful shadows offer people a sweet, vague and illusive feeling. But in certain period of time, colorful lights hidden in the “rooms within rooms” will be turned on, creating the space into a vibrant place.
