The available architectural and scenery-formative situation at the Nebelhorn summit was a result of a huge number of building measures during the past decades. Among the rest, there was a torso of the former chair lift station and a summit restaurant which in ist dimension competed with the summit and blocked the view on it. With the decision for a new building of the summit restaurant and a renovation of the cable railway station the chance of an essential improvement of this situation presented itself. The draft is based on the basic idea to release the look at the summit again. Hence, the new restaurant is planned further to the west in the area of the former chair lift station. A generous terrace surface with an attractive panoramic view also originates from moving away of the cable railway station. To give more space to the Nebelhorn summit, the construction volume at the platform level was reduced to a minimum. From it there resulted the decision to move the head-catering trade level in the basement and to build a construction body as low and small as possible. Concerning the architectural creation it was chosen to work very integrative. The balustrade tapes running all round summarise the new summit restaurant and the terrace buildings architecturally to a creative unity. The organic form adapts itself in the existing topography at the same time. The new cable railway station was formulated consciously as a formatively independent technical element in a functional aesthetics.
