The Owners of this narrow, dark Foggy Bottom rowhouse desired a space of openness and light. To achieve this, a simple floor plan was established, with no dividing walls and all programmatic elements running along the party walls. A transparent volume of light which runs from basement to roof was created by aligning glass floors on every level. The result is a tapestry of solid and voids which define fully functional floor plates, and allow light and views to run vertically and unobstructed through the whole house.
Large sliding doors and frosted glass panels on upper level floors bring in additional light, and complement the steel stairs, and bamboo floors.
