Sushi "GEN" is a sushi restaurant in Marunouchi, Nagoya, Japan. The facade is made of stainless steel mesh with a gentle curve like a Japanese blind, and is lit with hidden lighting above it. There is no store name on the facade, but you can see the approach through the stainless steel mesh. The approach is designed with striking lighting, and the texture of Naguri finish using solid cypress wood emerges. The interior is a store with only 10 seats at the counter. The four walls of the 4m x 7m guest room are based on a wooden board design method. A wooden board measuring 300 mm x 500 mm was attached to the wall at an angle. The concept of the slope was designed based on the concept of the slope of the overlapping rain lines of Utagawa Hiroshige's “Ohashi Atake no Yudachi”. The dynamic design, in which segmented lines are alternately combined to bring out nature and power, creates a space where the scene emerges in a Japanese expression.
