Upon purchase, Rock Ventures selected Neumann/Smith to renovate 9 floors of Detroit’s 1962 One Woodward building to accommodate the growing demand for space in the city’s technology district.
The fit-out creates flexible floor plates for
15,600 sf on each floor (occupied by Quicken Loans). To accommodate new tenants and rejuvenate the building, the entire core was upgraded. Modernization of tenant floors focused on increasing the visual appeal and functionality to aid in attracting new vibrant businesses to the building.
Complementing the renovations is a first-class, special events and training space on the building’s second floor. A redesign of the entire floor included the enclosure of a large event room with a stage, AV technology and associated staging area to support the space, a pre-function/bar lobby, a catering kitchen, an open lobby and elevator space with high-end finishes, and new bathroom core. More focused on pattern, and less on color, the spaces were intentionally designed for the patterns to meld and enhance visual interest. The design intent was to visualize and carry through an explosion of patterns and texture throughout the 9 floors.
