Huangshi National Mine Park was formerly known as Hanye Ping Coal Iron Factory Mine Co., Ltd. founded by Zhang Zhidong of Zhongqing, Qing Dynasty. Since 1875, it has been surveyed for iron ore. So far, it has accumulated a considerable number of geological exploration cores. In this case, the cores of mineral exploration in the past were combined, sliced and reorganized into novel landscaping elements such as paving, squares, sketches and installations. For the recycling of landscape resources, we will find a new path, let the cores that have been sleeping for more than a century of exploration and sampling, and convert their identity to the world in the form of regenerative landscape. The surveyed “core” is used as a landscape material to create a new landscape for sustainable recycling.

“Core Sports Park” is located in the core area of the Yellowstone National Mine Park, adjacent to the “Asian FirstSky Hole”. “Core Park” is organically distributed on four different elevation mining sites in the mine. Daye Iron Mine has experienced more than 140 years of exploration and mining, and has accumulated two core specimen workshops, with a workshop area of 26,000 m2. The diameter of the core is φ20, φ60, etc., and the number is considerable. The core provides the preliminary geological data and basic samples needed for the development of the mine. It is the first condition and scientific support for the mining of the whole mine. It is also the witness and founder of the mine. The underground core is transformed into the above-ground landscape, and the recycling of landscape resources is realized.

Different lengths of cores are combined, different colors represent different rock formations; the red numbers on the core columns form unique visual symbols. The core number is divided into six parts, which are the name of the exploration area, the drilling mark, the core, the rock formation level, the sequential number in the rock formation and the serial number of the whole core.

The “core park” project pioneered the core reuse example. The cores that were drilled out during the prospecting process were reused as landscape pieces and hard landscape paving materials. The combination of history, humanity and nature has enabled it to be endowed with novelty and science education significance, as well as the implementation of the concept of green sustainable development. Walking through the sculpture gives the visitor a different experience of “feasible, hopeable, and swimable”. The harp composing landscape sculpture made of materials such as core and waste steel pipe combines technology and art, and uses laser beams to add interactive ideas, which are finally realized by steel cables.

Considering the diversity of functions and landscapes, it is necessary to give the park a holistic coherence in order to keep it in touch with the rich cultural history of the site. Following the rhythm of instruments such as harp and chime, the metallic copper characters set in the node landscape are embedded in the core wall, composing the song of the geological exploration team, telling the hard work of the mine explorer, interpreting the mine explorer The feelings of the mine. These life-filled landscapes are the result of the good use of local resources. The selection of plants is highly adaptable to the hedgehog, which can adapt to the mining land and windy environment.
